SPX 2006!
I just got back from Small Press Expo 2006, in its brand-new venue in North Bethesda. This year, all of the exhibitors were in one big room, instead of spread out between four smaller rooms. This year, I shared a table with Tim Daniels, who brought along his new minicomic, The Last Bus. I was there showing off A Moment of Clarity Volume 1, and I also had copies of a 20-page minicomic version of the “Guild of Thieves” short story that’s currently running on Webcomics Nation.

Like last year, I was next to the very cool Mark McMurray and a bunch of his friends. One of them, Ronnie Casson, was up for an Ignatz for Claviger, a comic that’s now on my “To Read” list. Mark Griffin with his comic Karma Shmarma was there, too.

Throughout the two days, I met and reconnected with many very cool people. Tim and I had dinner with The Dada Detective trio and their friends on Friday night, and with the McMurray Supergroup on Saturday. I got to hang out a bit with the DC Conspiracy folks, which is good ‘cause I hardly ever see them in person. Scott McCloud was there, and I had a chance to talk briefly with him. And there were a bunch of other great people that I met that I hope to stay in contact with between conventions.
I’m hoping there will be a few conventions between now and SPX 2007. If there are, I’ll let you know through the latest news and mailing list on the A Moment of Clarity Website.
